Frequently asked questions
Quick answers for commanders, training officers and security managers.
Who is this training for?
Police, correctional and private security officers, hospital and campus security, and anyone who may need to take hold of a person. Leaders join the Executive Briefing; individuals can book One-on-One Training.
Do officers need martial arts experience?
No. Courses start from the basics and build up step by step.
How physically demanding is it?
Moderate activity, including floor work with a partner, built up gradually. Participants need medical clearance and can stop at any time.
How do you keep participants safe?
Medical clearance, confidential screening, a safety officer on the mat, small ratios, controlled progression, clear stop signals and a first aid plan.
Is this a martial arts class?
No. It is a professional control programme built on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo principles, inside a de-escalation, legal and welfare framework. No sport or grading.
Does it replace our use-of-force policy?
No. It supports, and never replaces, your policy, legal advice and medical protocols. We review your policy before training.
Workshop or Foundations?
The 1-Day Workshop is a practical introduction. Foundations is the full two-day course with scenario work. Many teams start with the Workshop.
Do you offer private sessions?
Yes. One-on-One Training per session or as a discounted block, in person in Botswana and Switzerland.
Do you work outside Botswana?
Yes. We are based in Gaborone and Basel and work across Southern Africa and Europe. Travel outside Gaborone or Botswana is quoted separately.
How do you measure results?
We help you track injuries, complaints and use-of-force reports before and after training, plus participant knowledge. Data stays confidential.
What equipment is needed?
We bring a portable 4 x 4 metre mat. You provide a venue with clear floor space. Participants wear comfortable clothing.
What languages do you train in?
English and Setswana. Ask us about other languages.
